According to Estrada he supports “President Duterte’s decision to cut ties with the United States, saying it is high time the US government to stop from its meddling with the country’s internal affairs,” Estrada said.

In a press conference, President Duterte claimed that the ties between the Philippines and the United States will not be severed.

“It’s not severance of ties. When you say severance of ties, you cut diplomatic relations. I cannot do that,” Duterte said.

”What I mean was a separation of foreign policy… in the past we always follow what the US will give the cue,” Duterte said.

According to Estrada, “Tama naman ginagawa ni Pangulong Duterte, bakit sila [US] nakikialam?”

“Di komo tinutulungan tayo ng US, papakialaman na nila internal problems natin. We are a sovereign country. We have our own Constitution,” Estrada said.

“Yun ang pangamba ko, sa akin nga ginawa eh.”  Estrada’s referring to his past 2001 presidency.

Meanwhile, Estrada claimed that he supports Duterte for his planned to tighten the allies between the Philippines and China.

“Kasi ang China di nakikialam sa atin, sa ating independence,” Estrada said.
