Kunsintidor: Randy David says Senate, DILG are abetting Duterte’s impunity
According to Randy David, the justice to more than 5,000 drug suspects killed in Duterte administration war against illegal drugs should also blame the Senate and Department of Interior and Local Government.
The University of the Philippines Prof. David said that the Senate and DILG must have contribute to the climate of impunity in the administration by failing to look deeper into the spate killings in police operations.
”What quickly comes to mind in our case are the inconclusive reports from the recent Senate hearings on extrajudicial killings and the hitherto unheralded investigation conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government. By failing to pinpoint responsibility, and, in the case of the Senate hearings, by spending more time trying to uncover the supposed links of Sen. Leila de Lima to drug dealers, they may have unwittingly served the cause of impunity,” said David.
According to the NBI investigation, the killing of Rolando Espinosa was a rubout and not a shootout, but President Duterte claimed that he would back the police in the case.
