Hindi hambog tulad ng iba: Gatchalian lauds Duterte’s humility with apology to South Korea

Palace spokesperson apologized to the South Korean Government for the brazen murder of South Korean businessman Jee Ick Joo allegedly by Philippine police.

"We wish to take this occasion to express the condolences and sympathies of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the Filipino people to Mrs. Choi Hyeung-jin, the widow of Mr. Ick-joo Jee, the South Korean national who met untimely death while in police custody," Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella said at a press briefing.

Senator Sherwin Gatchalian in his Twitter post, he also extending his apology to South Korea, hailed the Presidential humility.

“P-Digong to Korean ambassador: I’m sorry… Humility and character… Which is unheard of from the previous admin,” Gatchalian tweeted.

Meanwhile, the South Korea’s envoy Jae-Shin Kim accepted the Palace apology but called for fast investigation to the incident.

According to the ambassador, many Koreans were upset and scared to visit to the Philippines because of what happened.

"This is an enormous shock to the Korean community,"

"Of course, the Korean people are very, very upset and we are embarrassed such a heinous crime is committed." The ambassador said.

President Duterte personally apologized to the ambassador, saying that those behind the killing will suffer.

"Better if they escape from prison. I'll send their heads to you," Duterte said in a speech.
