Kiko defends ABS-CBN, Inquirer: “Iba ang usapan kapag buong bansa na ang ginagalawan nya,”

President of the Liberal Party (LP) Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan reacting to the latest statement of President Rodrigo Duterte where he lambasted some media entities he claimed to be biased against him, the Catholic Church and the European Union.
“Iba ang usapan kapag buong bansa na ang ginagalawan nya,” Pangilinan said.

“Our individual freedoms and our democracy are better to be served by a free and critical press. It is part of our democracy for presidents to be at the receiving end of a critical press,” he said.

Pangilinan further noted that Duterte’s complaint is nothing new as some of Duterte’s predecessors have had their share of squaring off with the press.

“All of these presidents have since left Malacanang but the press is still very much around,” he said.

Recently, President Duterte lashed out at Philippine Daily Inquirer and ABS-CBN saying that they have never been fair to him and his administration.

“You know that the Inquirer and ABS-CBN, you have never been fair. I know that you are supposed to be antagonistic but what they do is garbage reporting, you scums,” Duterte said.
