Duterte to fire another gov’t official for corruption – ‘Kaya hindi tayo umaasenso, kasi puro kayo magnanakaw’

President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he would soon fire another government official over corruption allegations if the charges against him are proven.
Duterte did not mention the name of the official or the alleged offense committed but said he will fire the official in the coming days.

"I am about to fire somebody from here if it is proven that he asked for money. There's an official here whom I will fired. In a few days, I'll fire him," Duterte said.

“I’m about to fire somebody from here. Kung totoo na humingi siya ng pera, in a few days, I’ll fire him,” Duterte said.

"Sinabi ko sa inyo, you avoid - magkasala na kayo nang magkasala - you avoid graft and corruption because that is the very thing that has pulled us down all throughout the years," he added.

Duterte said he has very low tolerance for corruption and he would hesitate to remove them from office even if thet were his campaign supporter or career officials.

“Kaya hindi tayo umaasenso, kasi puro magnanakaw ang nandiyan sa gobyerno halos. Lalo na diyan sa baba, kayong mga director, I will not hesitate to fire you, even if you have been there for the last 25 years,” The president said.

“Huwag ninyong gawin talaga sa panahon ko, uupakan ko kayo. Baka yan pang baril ibaril ko sa inyo. Mga yawa kayo.” Duterte added.

This was not the first time Duterte announced to the public his intent to remove his government officials who figure in corruption.

In March, Peter Laviña was sacked as administrator of the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) amid accusations that he is pocketed money from NIA funds.

Last April, Duterte axed Interior Secretary Mike Sueno in the middle of a Cabinet meeting for allegedly buying overpriced Australian firetrucks.

Duterte recently fired Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) chairman Benjamin Reyes for supposedly contradicting the government’s official data on drug addicts in the country.

In April, he sacked Cabinet Undersecretary Maia Chiara Halmen Reina Valdez for overruling National Food Authority Administrator Jason Aquino's decision to suspend rice importation as it was still harvest season in the Philippines. Valdez denied the allegations.
