Kiko - There is no need to pass a nationwide curfew law

There is no need to pass a nationwide curfew law, Senator Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan said.

"Local governments are already empowered to establish local ordinances so I don't think that should be a national law," Pangilinan told reporters.

The Disciplinary Hours for Minors Act was filed at the House of Representatives in a bid to protect minors from committing or being victims of crime that typically occurs at night.
Under the measure proposed by Quezon 4th District Representative Helen Tan, minors are prohibited from loitering in streets and public areas from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m.

Quezon 4th District Representative Helen Tan said the bill aims to protect children from being used in criminal acts. "It’s about time na i-compel natin, kailangan natin ng batas, ang batas kasi may ngipin kumpara sa ordinansa. Kapag nalaman siguro nila na may batas na ganito baka in that way ma-address natin ‘yung problema," she said in an interview.

Recently, Quezon 4th District Representative Helen Tan want to assure the safety and security of all minors with House Bill 894 o Disciplinary Hours for Minors Act.

“Aware naman tayo na ang kabataan nagagamit in criminal acts so technically ‘yun ‘yung intention natin to prevent these children to engage sa mga ganoong gawain and at the same time their safety,” Tan said.

“It’s about time na i-compel natin, kailangan natin ng batas, ang batas kasi may ngipin kumpara sa ordinansa. Kapag nalaman siguro nila na may batas na ganito baka in that way ma-address natin ‘yung problema...” Tan added.
